Yay! A concrete floor!
Stories From The Frontier
Diocelina's Family

Diocelina is a Colombian maid who lives with her mother Lilia and three daughters Jenifer, Daniela, and Laura. The children are Venezuelan by birth. Diocelina once worked for Christiansen Academy in Rubio. Andean Aid became aware of this family's housing crisis through contacts in the area. The house had no bathroom or kitchen. The floors were dirt and the roof gapped open at the walls. There was no glass in the windows and the doors merely rested against the jambs, surely not a secure situation for two women and two girls to live and Dengue fever was common in the family. Jenifer at that time was sent to live with another family across the country. Andean aid provided the materials and made arrangements with local labor to add on a kitchen and bathroom, pour a concrete floor and straighten the roof. Running water was piped to the house and the windows and doors were made secure. Secure enough that Jenifer was able to return home. Andean aid also sponsored Daniela's Christian education. Please read in Diocelina's and Jenifer's own words what this home repair and education opportunity means to them.

My mother, the children, and I send greetings together to our sister Susan and your daughter Amanda.  I want to express to your ministry the renewed thanks for demonstrating the love of God toward us..

In regards  to the house I ask your pardon for the procrastination in the construction.  But now it is already finished to plan, that includes the kitchen and the bathroom.  I'm very thankful for the help that we have received all this time.  Thanks to your ministry and to all the brothers and sisters of good heart that with the help of  God contributed in the education of children in Venezuela and especially for my daughter Daniela who received the great privilege of receiving this support for help in the development of her education.  I think that you should continue and not finish because it is a ministry that God Himself has created and the foundation of god never ends.

I desire the blessing of God in all that you undertake in your ministry and your family and your church.

I give you a strong hug in my heart.

Hi Wayne.  How are you?  I miss you very much.  It's been a long time since I've seen you.  Come in April for my birthday.  I'll be fifteen years old.  They will celebrate it at Vida Joven.  I'm in the ninth grade and studying at the school “Jesus the Good Teacher”.

I'm learning to play the guitar a little piano and the (pandereta?).  Of course I am very, very happy with what you are doing with the ministry, I'm thankful for helping Daniela.  She was very happy studying there.  And also for the house.  I came and found everything very beautiful – the big kitchen, the living room, the bathroom and all.  We send many hugs and kisses to all your family.

We wait for you.

Bye Wayne

Apreciado y recordado hno w:
