| Wayne Cramer and Cheryl McCameron will be visiting Rubio July 1 through July 19. Cheryl is a grade school teacher and will be using her skills at the Help and Hope Center .to prepare the children to pass exams to promote to the next grade level. This is a very busy time at the Center and her help and willingness to serve in this way is greatly appreciated. She will also show the love of Christ to these children and provide much needed encouragement to the Center staff. Wayne is the Andean Aid President and will meet with community leaders and pastors to encourage more volunteer help for the Center as well as meeting with the Una Sonrisa Para Todos Civil association to evaluate additional ministry in the area.
Cheryl and Wayne want to make a special delivery at the Center. They are collecting learning aids that can be used by Spanish speaking children and would like to have a suitcase full. Examples are educational games, logic games, flash cards and puzzles. Stickers for use as incentives are good also. See the photographs at left for some ideal aids. These should be new or like new and will be collected at the Chain of Lakes Community Bible Church between services for the next two weeks.
Newborn clothes are also being collected to assist pregnant teens and teen mothers. Won't you help us show the love of Christ to these children?
They will also observe a weekly radio program that Andean Aid produces utilizing Center children in starring roles. Click on the photograph above to hear the weekly broadcast. When the page appears click the logo then click the start triangle on the multimedia page that appears.

| UPDATES |
| July 2, 2008
We have arrived safely in Rubio, Venezuela and have already begun our ministry work. The trip was not without difficulty but the Lord brought us to our destination. It's our intention to update this site frequently during the trip and we will begin to include short video segments featuring the people we serve and the area in which they live. Please join us each day as we document this trip.
A huge blessing is that we are able to upload changes to the site right from the home where we are staying.

Wayne had an opportunity to address the congregation of the Familia de Dios Church to thank them for their prayer support on behalf of his granddaughter, Ember, who has a heart condition. This group prayed for her continuously for months and held a weekly corporate prayer meeting.

| July 4, 2008 Video - House Hunting |
| It has become apparent that the Help and Hope Center needs a permanent home. Landlords raise the rent indiscriminately and each time we relocate, children are lost from the program. |

Directors Meeting
Wayne met with the directors of Una Sonrisa Para Todos (A Smile for All) to discuss strategy for future ministry. It was determined that the current political situation in the country warrants us shifting from a Help and Hope Center to a full-fledged Christian school. This shows the flexibility needed in cross cultural ministry. Two years ago the concept of a Christian school was dismissed by the Andean Aid board. The plan is to move to a preschool through sixth grade school in the next two years. This will require a huge increase in support. Directors will begin a seach for a school property immediately. We are also moving forward with the formation of a Help and Hope Center in Cucuta, Colombia.

| July 9, 2008 - Visit to Pastor Sanatamaria's Home |
| Pastor Alfonso Santamaria is an amazing man. He cares for his elderly mother and a disabled brother in his home. Recently his wife passed away and he cared for her also through a long illness. Still he is able to speak frequently at churches throughout Tachira and he produces the children's radio program each week. And, yes ther's more, Pastor Santamaria serves as a director of Una Sonrisa Para Todos - the Venezuelan civil association that manages the planning and operation of Andean Aid ministries. Cheryl, Wayne Gaby and Ruben had the opportunity to visit in his home, play a game and learn more about this man who has founded many churches here. He is very funny and taught us something about handling adversity with grace.

| We ventured into the high Andes to the pueblo of Queniquea to evaluate the ministry of a courageous Pastor and his family there. Though the ministry falls outside the mission of Andean Aid we thought you would like to see the beautiful scenery in this part of the country. |

| July 13, 2008 - Church Service at Unidos Para Cristo (United For Christ) |
Pastor Caceres is a good friend and supporter of Andean Aid. Dr. Auri, the dentist who cares for the children at the Help and Hope Center is just one example of how they help. Wayne was asked to address the church. After the service a nurse came forward to ask how she could help and has scheduled a meeting to discuss possibilities. Pastor Caceres encourages his flock to serve in our ministry. Check out our video of the passionate music worship at this fine church. |

| July 15, 2008 - Wayne Gets Dengue Fever, Cheryl Visits Public School |
I apologize that there was no update yesterday. During the day I felt very hot and weak. We had an event in the evening for teenagers (more about that tomorrow) and as I helped prepare felt worse and worse. Finally I was told to go home and get rest. This morning I woke up feeling dizzy and still weak. Gaby Andrade, our director here, suggested strongly that I see a doctor. She clinched the deal when she said she was concerned that I would take a tropical disease home to my grandchildren.
The doctor visit was an all day ordeal. The bottom line is that I have classic dengue fever. Thank God I went to the doctor. Now I know I don't have a contageous disease that could effect the new baby in our host home. Also, you cannot take aspirin when you have dengue because it creates serious health problems. Check out my video of the treatment plan.
Photos of Cheryl's public school visit below. Our good friend Monolo, who taught in the Venezuelan public school system for twenty eight years, arranged the visit. this gave Cheryl, a teacher herself, a perspective of the difference betwwen Venezuelan schools and U.S. schools. this may be critical information as we move to a private school approach.

| July 17, 2008 - The Girls Retreat - Intro Video |
A special retreat was held for teenage girls. Activites were designed to help the girls realize that they should respect themselves and their bodies. That God made each of them uniquely and has a plan for them. In this video Cheryl describes an activity that encourages them to know God better - better than the back of your hand.
The retreat was conducted to address a rise in teenage pregnancy. Girls were encouraged to consider options and God's plan for their life rather than rushing into adulthood too early.
